Our coffee
Our coffee is roasted, ground, and packaged in our roastery in Kaarina, Finland.
Our coffee is bought directly from four coffee farmers in southern Ethiopia. The coffee variety is Heirloom and it’s grown in the areas of Aleta, Bena, Gabicho Rogicha, and Gedeb.
The beans are grown at an altitude of between 1900 and 2300 meters above sea level, giving the coffee an exceptionally rich flavor. We always use fresh beans from the latest harvest. The raw coffee is roasted, ground, and packaged in our roastery in Kaarina, Finland.
Valikoimastamme löydät kolme korkealaatuista kahvia, jotka ovat saatavilla joko papuina tai suodatinkahvina. Tarjolla on myös vihreitä papuja niille, jotka haluavat paahtaa itse. Jokainen kuppi vie sinut makumatkalle kahvin alkuperäisiin juuriin.

Coffee farmers
Our coffee secures the livelihood of the farmers in Ethiopia.
Coffee farming is a significant industry in Ethiopia, but for many growers it is a challenge to reach out to international customers. Collaborating with Abi Coffee means that the growers do not have to risk being pressured on prices and heavily dependent on the trade offered by large chains and stores.
Abi Coffee breaks the pattern by paying a fair price directly to the growers without intermediaries. In this way, we support sustainable and secure sources of income for the growers behind every cup of coffee.
We love what we do
A family business
We have a close relationship with Ethiopia; we know the terrain and where our premium coffee beans grow. Our coffee expert is Helen Ghebrehiwet, an Eritrean who was born in the Sidamo region of Ethiopia. Sidamo has a long tradition of coffee growing so Helen became familiar with coffee from an early age.
“As a child we tasted the beans directly from the coffee bushes. That is my first, very sweet and strong memory of coffee.”
Helen then came to Finland in 1997 when she got a scholarship at a gardening school. She is married to Micael from Ethiopia and they have two wonderful children.
This is exactly what Helen is now implementing herself through Abi Coffee. An entrepreneur since 2012, Helen knows that quality and reliability are key in entrepreneurship, and this is exactly what Abi Coffee is all about.
By removing expensive middlemen, we can offer the highest quality coffee while providing work opportunities in Ethiopia, Finland, and now also in Sweden as we launch Abi Coffee on the Swedish market through Helen's sister Camilla who grew up in Sweden. The sisters met for the first time as adults and now Camilla, together with four partners, will be the agent for Abi Coffee in Sweden.
